Think about it- even if you do something new and exciting, like buy something from a new brand, listen to a new CD or try a new restaurant, you get your little bit of relief from tedium and it's done. You'll never get that feeling back.
I'm kind of envious of the life you and your group lead. You've got quite a lot of little choices to spice things up along the way.
'adrenaline junkie', hm? I suppose you could think that- if you really want to. Especially if it's just as funny as the science fiction thing.
Ehh? But wouldn't putting your life on the line be the same thing? When it's over, it's gone. And then you're left feeling a little emptier than you were before.
Ahaha, it's true! Fling Posse has a lot of adventures! A lot of unexpected things happen too that leave me feeling okay, without the risk of dying!
[ Which is...half true... ]
Is it that risking your life feels a lot more exciting than more mundane things? Hmm~?
Mm, not really. I mean, there's a life-changing feeling that comes up when you find something that influences you. Some people are really into fashion, some find deeper meaning in certain music, and some people live their lives according to mindsets depicted in things like street art. Shibuya's just full of different circles like that. Take Gal-cirs for instance. Their influence was powerful enough to change Shibuya itself in things like Center Street and 104. Bangya are still prominent around O-East, and of course, Takeshitadori is still world-famous because of the influence of varying cir.
...But that's not what this is about. More to the point, that feeling's kind of rare. Someone can go through thousands of things without feeling anything. The feeling that everything could end, your whole capability to find something that makes the monotony worth it could go? That's different. Unless, of course, that person's already given up on themselves. Or isn't human to begin with.
[A faint pause. That was a lot, so...]
Of course, I've got an inkling of what your Thing could be. It's kind of obvious.
Wow, look at that! You sure know a lot about Shibuya, I'm super impressed! Especially since you live in the woods ☆
[ He's becoming increasingly more agitated as this conversation goes on. It's taking a lot of effort not to lose himself on the pages in front of him, to maintain his composure and keep himself from giving everything away.
He feels himself getting close to snapping, though. ]
[Oh, if only he could see what he's doing. That's the drawback to these, he guesses.]
Everyone should know about where they're from. Especially when it's somewhere like Shibuya which has the influence it does. To not know about those things means you're not a local.
[And! Maybe it'll be salt on that little wound. Or maybe balm. Who knows. But:]
You have to ask? It's your friends. You said it yourself- a lot of things happen that make you feel like it's all okay. You don't even need the threat of everything being taken away to feel like everything else is worth it. You care for them- and that's what pulls you through.
Oh, of course! But, you know the whole thing about parallel universes? Don't you think that my version of Shibuya might be a little different from yours? We're in the age of H. Is that something that sounds familiar to you~?
[ This really does feel like some cat and mouse game he's playing right now, though. And, well, Joshua is getting the upper hand. The read he's getting on Ramuda isn't all that wrong, though Ramuda is hesitant and almost loathe to admit it -- he never needed friends. All he was ever meant to do was...
... ]
You sure don't know when to shut up, do you. ☆
[ ...Shit. That wasn't what he meant to write, but the words -- the thoughts -- they just happened. ]
Of course parallels are different- it's kind of obvious. Every day there's opportunities for things to change. A passed opportunity taking its own form, somewhere, populated with parallels of the people which would have changed as result isn't all that wild of a concept. The age of H doesn't mean a whole lot for me- like tenfour shouldn't mean anything to you.
[Okay, that little accidental remark got a little laugh out of him.]
Sure don't ☆
[The star is physically drawn in. As if in imitation. Why? Because it's funny.]
I don't see why you're so grouchy over it. It's hardly my fault you asked...
Keep talking like you know everything about me, I guess! I won't stop you. You'll get what's coming to you anyway.
[ ...Or, well, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean, anyway. He does not like conversations like these to begin with, anyway, so he's very tempted to shut the book and disregard Joshua's next reply entirely. Chances are he will read the reply anyway and decide not to respond, but who knows. ]
Sure- if being kind enough to re-explain a concept you should have got the first time around makes me the one at fault, have at.
[The cutesy act has completely been abandoned at this point. Which, honestly, great. It's actually a relief to see it go, as fake as it was. He's got to wonder, though. Is this 180 some condition? He's unsure.
But. The next message.
...He really shouldn't have people after him again. Minamimoto 3 years ago. Kubo, more recently. But he can't resist.]
[ He decides not to give Joshua the time of day any longer after seeing that response, mostly because Ramuda really doesn't know what to say to that. He does not want to concede; and perhaps he's being a bit hypocritical because he, too, thinks he knows what Joshua's about here from this one conversation. Ramuda can't be sure, though. This is their only conversation thus far, after all.
But he's sure as hell going to try to dig.
...Especially after hard R. What the fuck? That shouldn't piss him off as much as it does. Ramuda grits his teeth and promptly closes his book -- slams it shut. ]
Bastard...
[ He grumbles it under his breath. Ramuda may have exited this conversation for now, but it's definitely not over yet. It won't be over anytime soon. ]
